Civic Report Center ("we", "us") is run by . We are responsible for the information you send through this website. Contact us about privacy at .

What we collect

When you submit a report, we collect:

• Your name, phone number, email address, and city and state.
• The type of scam, the approximate amount lost and your description of what happened.
• Any files you choose to upload, such as screenshots or receipts.
• A one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address, used only to limit how many reports can be sent from one connection. It is stored separately from your report and cannot be turned back into your address.

Please do not send card numbers, passwords, PINs or government ID numbers. We do not need them.

Why we use it

• To read and assess your report.
• To contact you about your report, which you agree to when you submit it.
• To point you to banks, agencies or police who may be able to help.
• To protect the site from spam and abuse.

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone else unless you ask us to, or the law requires it.

Who can see it

Only the operator and authorized reviewers, who must sign in with their own accounts. Other people who use this site cannot see your report.

Reports and files are stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States. Information is encrypted while it travels to us and while it is stored.

How long we keep it

We keep reports for up to two years after we close them, then delete them. You can ask us to delete your report sooner at any time.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information you sent. Email from the address you used in your report, and we will reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, laws such as Nigeria's Data Protection Act, the EU and UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws may give you further rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
